THE ONE THE WINDS & WAVES OBEY
Speak the Name
The Name above all other names
Speak the Name
The Name the wind and waves obey
Speak the Name by Koryn Hawthorne
In the books of Matthew and Mark, we read about a time when Jesus and His disciples got in a boat to cross over to the other side of a lake. Jesus fell asleep and a windstorm put the disciples in a frenzy. They quickly called for Jesus, and with a simple command, He calmed the storm.
Their response? Even the winds and the waves obey Him!
The storm served as a momentary distraction to their mission. Jesus had directed them to cross to the other side, as there was a man already on His mind that needed to be delivered. There was no question that they would arrive on the other side, yet the unexpected raging storm ignited fear, causing their focus to shift from their mission and onto their current ominous reality.
How often are storms in life sent our way, whether by the enemy or just as a result of residing in a sin-ridden world? Those crashing waves and vicious winds can cause us to become distracted from our own personal mission - the call of God on our lives and the reason we were created, to know Him and to make Him known.
The storms have no choice but to calm at the mention of His name. As a believer, you have been given authority in His name. Call on His name, speak His name and watch the winds and waves obey.
