Job loss

Home foreclosure 

Ruined relationship

Sudden death

In the times when we are caught off guard, the foundation we have built our lives on is exposed. 

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

We can’t wait for the storms of life to hit us before we choose to begin building our lives on the truth of God’s Word. We have to intentionally and adamantly read, apply and live out His Word in every season of life, then when the hard and frustrating seasons come (and they will), we can stay standing.

During my own life journey, I have endured many of life’s storms - church hurts, mental battles, serious health issues, divorce, and loss of friendships, to name a few. As believers, we are not promised an escape from the pains of living in a sin-ridden world. What we are promised is a God who will always be with us through everything we endure, and because of that I choose to build my life on Him and nothing less.
